PRINCIPIANTES

In 2012, I started to develop a dance- body practice that I called: EVERYBODY CAN MOVE. The aim was to approach a basic understanding of body awareness from a dance perspective in elderly people. In 2016, after four years of research, I connected with the importance of developing this practice further from regular classes as well as the need of this work to be shown on stage.I started to consider the role of women in our society, the legacy my grandmother and all other women in her age left. The difficulties they experienced in their younger years spent in Europe and the way those difficulties remain nowadays in their lives. The repression of their bodies. I noticed how they are linked to their circumstances, context, lack of space to experiment and play. That is the reason why I conceived this scene practice just for the women of today, in order to offer them a space they never had the chance to explore before, like an act of feminism. Beginners was born in 2017, with the support of LEAL LAV in Tenerife.Presented as a 45 minutes performance in Leal Lav.
